What is PBC about?

PBC is a non-denominational Christian Junior College.  It is primarily a night-school, catering to Evangelical Christians who want to deepen their roots in theological study.  We are about helping people to think well by thinking biblically in the 21st Century.  Approximately 80% of our students are enrolled for enrichment, not pursuing degrees, but wanting to take college-level theological training for their personal lives.  We believe in permeating our culture with a distinctly Christian worldview by educating believers and encouraging them to make a difference for the Lord in the environment in which they find themselves.

How much does it cost to take classes at PBC?

Students taking classes for credit will pay $60 per unit. Most of our courses are 3-units a piece, which puts the total price at $180 per class. There’s a non-refundable $20 registration fee for new students. Those wishing to take the courses as audit students are charged $50 per unit. Incidentally, this is generally less than the fees and tuition charged at Oregon’s Junior Colleges.

Does PBC offer financial aid?

We do not offer standard financial aid (FAFSA) at this time.  But we do offer some creative financing plans!  And our units are reasonably priced.

How long has PBC been around?

We’ve been serving the Rogue Valley for over 12 years.  You may have heard of us under our old name – Dove Bible Institute.

What degrees does PBC offer?

We offer two degrees at this time: a One-Year Certificate of Christian Ministry; and a Two-Year Associate of Biblical Studies. These are State Authorized Bible College degrees.

Will my PBC units transfer to other colleges?  Is PBC accredited?

Accreditation is about unit transferability. PBC is not accredited by a separate authorizing body, so our units do not automatically transfer. But many Bible Colleges will take our units on a case-by-case basis. We can make special arrangements with other institutions for this purpose. It’s up to the receiving institution to accept any units from any college, accredited or not.

Are the teachers at PBC qualified?

We are an inter-denominational, evangelical institution. Teachers at PBC typically have at least a Bachelors degree from an accredited school, and in most cases they have masters degrees. Some have doctorates. We seek to employ instructors with extensive pastoral experience in Evangelical churches from a broad spectrum of denominations. Those teaching theology and Biblical studies have degrees from established Christian Seminaries and Bible Colleges.

Where is PBC located?

Our administrative office, library and classrooms are located at 409 N Front St in Medford, OR. Classes are also offered at Cornerstone Church at 608 N Bartlett in Medford. Occasionally classes are offered at other locations, announced as needed.

When do classes meet?

Our classes generally meet one night per week, for two or three hours of lecture and interaction. The semesters are 15 weeks long. Fall Semester typically runs from the first week of September to the middle of December. Spring Semester runs from the first week of January to the first week of May. Summer Semester runs from the middle of May through the third week of August. Please consult the Academic Calendar for specific dates.

We usually offer at least three classes per term so that a student could go full time (12 units) if they so desired.

What sort of person would benefit from a degree at PBC?

Answer:  The training we offer is perfectly suited for any person preparing to minister in the following venues:

  • Para - church organizations, such as Campus Life/ Youth for Christ, Young Life etc.
  • Lay-ministry within the local church. Sunday School teachers, youth workers, and administrators in the lay or vocational sectors of the local church often desire to refresh their education.
  • Missions agencies, either at home or overseas. A basic grounding in Christian theology and mission is desirable for persons applying to missions organizations of all types.
  • Students planning to attend a four-year Bible College. Though PBC’s units may not automatically transfer to a four-year school (this happens on an individual basis), the training acquired in our classes is a great foundation for further academic study.
  • Students currently enrolled in church-based ministry training schools. We have no monopoly on the education of Christians for ministry. But we can often supply just what’s needed in the way of additional support to an existing discipleship training school (DTS) or school of ministry.
